My Training
I completed my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, a program that focused on clinical work and research as well as a specialization in Clinical Health Psychology. This means that I work to understand and help people live healthier lives long-term and to help people already struggling with stress or physical illness to better manage and cope with their condition.
Clinical
I completed both my pre-doctoral internship and my post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology, which gave me diverse experiences in outpatient (primary care, pain management, women’s health, neurology, weight management, etc.) and inpatient (acute rehabilitation, palliative care, etc.) settings working with a range of different medical conditions and medical teams. I’ve also worked for several years in an outpatient behavioral medicine clinic with a broad range of medical patients including helping those with insomnia, overlapping, depressive, generalized anxiety disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders to manage their symptoms more effectively.
REsearch
My research background focused on helping patients with headache disorders, primarily migraines, and behavioral treatments to manage this disabling condition. I was a lead clinician and coordinator for the Bronx Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy trial, from which I completed my dissertation and have published in neurology journals. From this background I have continued to build an expertise in the psychological needs of those living with neurological and pain disorders.
